Commission a New Show

We accept a limited amount of new commissions each year. In 2021. We have an unusual amount of availability due to bands pushing their 2020 shows to 2021. You may even want to get a jump start on 2022.!

When you commission a show from FMP you get a team of experienced, trained, and award winning professionals. We have “in house” designers and artists that can meet any marching band service you desire.

You really want us to help you in the design process. Basic concept, musical , and visual brainstorming are included in the pricing. Their can be some additional charges for art work created and some more involved levels of consultation, but you are never charged additional fees without knowing it long before we start those higher levels of design. We are always more excited about shows that we have some creative input on.

We are most interested in doing original/public domain shows, however we will consider shows that require copyright. FMP takes the lead in the copyright process and make it easy for you. All copyright fees are an additional cost beyond the contract costs. We don’t not start arranging anything until copyright clearances are given. It can take up 16 weeks for some copyrights. Here are the steps for commission/contracting a new show for 2021

#1 Call to check on availability of services.

#2 Sign a contract
Contract must be signed by band director and principal or booster president. The second signature should be the person who authorizes (signs) payment.

You have two options for completing our contract for services:

  • 1. Fully Digital Version – All you need to do for this option is respond to this email with your full name and best email address and the name and email address for the person that will be approving the purchase (Principal or Booster President). We will then generate a contract for you via DocuSign that will take you through the document and obtain all the needed signatures and information. THIS METHOD IS SUPER EASY!!! This is also our preferred method of submission.
  • 2. Hard Copy – We can email a copy of the contract for you to print. Once printed, you can fully complete the contract (including the signature of your budget approver) and the scan and return it to us (or you may drop it in the mail).

#3 Request any copyright permissions needed (ignore if commissioning completely original /public domain work)
We prefer to make copyright requests for you. We also prefer to pay the rearrangement copyright fees for you. We will include this service for no extra fee. You will only be charged the actual fees required by the publishers (no extra charge from us). We will send you the quote from the publisher, and if you are unhappy with the cost you may cancel the entire contract (without penalty) at that time. We can not start any arrangement of copyrighted materials without copyright permission clearing first.

#4 Complete the music design form
Please make your customization requests as soon as possible.

#5 Schedule writing
We start writing in Jan/Feb. Get us your information and start the process as soon as possible. We are very busy in May and early June. We can take requests in May and June, but we start projects in the order in which they are received. Be clear about any deadlines you have, and we will let you know if we can make your deadline.

#6 Download customized files from Dropbox
We will create a Dropbox folder with your customized pdf scores/parts, mp3’s, .mus files, and .xml files.

#7 Request Edits
Please make your edit requests as soon as possible. We take edit requests in the order in which they are received. We are very busy from May through the end of June. Edit requests made in May and June could take up to two weeks. We will let you know if we can make your deadline. Edit requests made prior to May are usually completed within a few days of your request.

#8 Payment (flexible terms)
Payment is expected within 30 days of completion of services. If this is not possible, please give an approximate payment date (we are flexible). We accept PO’s, checks, and credit cards.
