Welcome… to the Rock. Brooding in the mists of San Fransisco Bay, tantalizingly close to one of the world’s great cities but also impossibly far away, Alcatraz has become a byword in American culture for isolation and inescapability. Taking Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” as their theme, the FMP team has crafted a musical tapestry that transmutes the maximum security prison into a place of myth and meaning, a metaphor for the obstacles that cannot be overcome… until they are. Simple, but highly effective props marry seamlessly with costuming and choreography to tranpsort your audience to a harsh world not so far away or long ago and asks them a simple question: “How far would you go… to Escape the Rock?”
