In Japanese the word Kodo conveys two meanings:  heartbeat – the primal source of rhythm and children of the drum.  The set will play off of the “Tomoe” symbol utilizing groups of 3 “ commas” as a design element throughout the production. We will use this “Tomoe” symbol throughout the show in color guard flags, costumes, tarp & prop designs, and drill design.  

Kodo plays with beautiful Asian imagery by using oversized red umbrellas to highlight areas of the field and give the guard a new piece of equipment to enjoy choreography with.  Huge Taiko drum moment in Section C will utilize oversized drums for the band and guard to create a huge GE moment that the performers, crowd, and judges will love!
